What happens after I apply?

Your application will be reviewed within one week of receipt to determine if you meet the OJT entry requirements.  Your application will also be screened to identify your current skill set and to determine what training you need to be eligible for available jobs.  If you are accepted into the Programme, a member of TEST's staff will contact you by phone and in writing within two weeks of receipt of your application.  You will then be placed in training for a period of 12 months, providing you have not already exceeded 12 months on the Programme in aggregate.  You will also be paid an hourly stipend of no less than minimum wage.

Apprentices will be provided with work-based training opportunities through private and public-sector employers.  In addition, they will be exposed to other benefits that are associated with being employed, including becoming more familiar with interpersonal relationships, networking, responsibility and the importance of interdependence within the working environment.

Based on the work performance of each apprentice and the existence of vacancies within the employer's organisation, he or she may be offered a position on a more permanent basis.  The OJT Programme will assist all those who successfully complete training to identify permanent job opportunities.
