Inspection Frequency
Step 1: Check If Your Vehicle Requires Inspection
Inspection is required if:
Your private vehicle is over 5 years old
You operate a commercial, rental, or public service vehicle
You are transferring ownership or reclassifying a vehicle
Step 2: Locate an Authorized Testing Station
Visit the Vehicle Inspections service page for a list of approved inspection stations across Trinidad and Tobago.
Step 3: Schedule Your Inspection
Contact your preferred station to book an appointment. Some stations accept walk-ins, but scheduling is recommended.
Step 4: Gather Required Documents
Take the following with you:
Certified Copy of Vehicle Ownership
Valid Certificate of Insurance
Valid Driver’s Permit or National ID
Previous Inspection Certificate (if applicable)
Step 5: Attend the Inspection
Bring your vehicle and documents to the testing station. Inspectors will check brakes, lights, tyres, emissions, and overall roadworthiness.
Step 6: Receive Your Certificate
If your vehicle passes, you’ll receive an official Inspection Certificate. If not, address the issues and return for a re-inspection.
