The Workman’s Permit allows qualified individuals to use their private motor vehicles for work-related activities such as transporting tools, equipment, or other materials.
This permit is issued by the Licensing Authority under the Ministry of Works and Transport and ensures that your vehicle can be used legally for these purposes without being classified as a commercial vehicle.
Eligibility
Vehicle must be a privately registered car (P vehicle)
The owner must use the vehicle for carrying tools or equipment for their trade
Must not be used for hire or reward
Required Documents:
Completed application form
Valid Driver’s Permit
Certified Copy of Vehicle Registration
Valid Certificate of Insurance
Valid Motor Vehicle Inspection Certificate
Letter explaining the nature of your work and reason for applying

Processing Time
Usually valid for 1 year; renewable upon expiration
Step 1: Download and Complete the Application Form
Visit the official MOWT Workman’s Permit page and download the application form. Fill it out carefully with accurate information.
Step 2: Prepare Supporting Documents
Gather the required documents:
Valid Driver’s Permit
Certified Copy of Vehicle Registration
Certificate of Insurance
Vehicle Inspection Certificate
Letter describing the nature of your trade and how the vehicle is used for work
Step 3: Submit Your Application In Person
Go to the Licensing Authority or the Transport Commissioner’s Office and submit your form and documents.
Step 4: Await Processing
Your application will be reviewed. If approved, you will be issued a Workman’s Permit to legally use your vehicle for trade-related transport.
